Hiking at Emberger Alm
Emberger Alm is situated on a plateau at 1,800 m above sea level on the southern face of the Kreuzeckgruppe mountain range. You can conveniently reach it through a well-constructed 12-km asphalt road from Berg im Drautal or Greifenburg.
Once you have arrived, you can enjoy a breath-taking view on the mountain panorama of the Julian Alps (Slovenia, Italy), the Carnic Alps and the Lienz Dolomites until the Karawanks (up to 100 km far away). It is the perfect starting point for your hikes from the treeline to our summits Nassfeldriegel, Knoten or Hochtristen, to one of the mountain lakes or just for a short hike to the neighbouring Oberberger Alm.
For families we recommend the circular route “Almrundweg” past colourful alpine grazing pastries and amazing lookouts: to the Pony Meadow, the Snow Pond, the hang- and paragliding take-off site and back.
Take in the silence and the great views and just relax.
Your four-legged companion is very welcome, too. In summer, there are alpine grazing pastures at Emberger Alm, so please respect the following rules:
